School Field Trips

One of the primary reasons we originally decided to open our farm to school field trips was to educate others about farming. We especially wanted to teach children of all ages about where their food comes from and how its produced.

Achieving Benchmarks Across the Curriculum
Our goal at Red Bluff Farm is to create a learning field trip that will assist the classroom teacher in achieving benchmarks across the curriculum. No video, soundtrack, or computer can take the place of clucks, moos, oinks, green pastures, the sight of growning corn, and the smell of freshly tilled soil.

The Pizza Patch!
One of our educational classrooms incorporates a "pizza patch" where students are given clues to come up with what is grown in each portion of the patch and what pizza ingredient it is used to make. This creates an exciting learning experience because we know students love pizza!

Hay Ride
All students will be loaded on a hayride for a ride through the crop section of Red Bluff Farm.

Louisiana Hay Maze
Walk through a maze made of hay bales lined up in the shape of the state of Louisiana. When you get to the end, you'll have reached Red Bluff Farm!

Farming is Seasonal
Because farming is seasonal, some animals and crops may not be available at certain times of the year. But just as one season sees the end of a particular farm activity, you can be sure there's a new one coming up to take its place.
